Arun District Council are excited to recruit for an Alcohol Wellbeing Adviser to join our established Wellbeing Team. This new role will specialise in supporting people through one to one work to reduce their alcohol consumption to safe recommended drinking levels. This will be achieved through early interventions to adults (18+) who are drinking at Increasing Risk and Higher Risk levels in order to prevent alcohol-related harm and possible future dependence on alcohol.

This is a new service for the team, and so it is important that you have excellent organisation skills and are highly motivated as the role will involve working both independently and as part of a wider Wellbeing team network. The postholder will be responsible for developing the service which will involve networking with other organisations and delivering promotional work including talks and events as well as undertaking clients on a 1-2-1 basis. Full training, peer support and ongoing clinical supervision will be given.

Arun Wellbeing has been commissioned by the West Sussex County Council Department of Public Health, to develop a prevention and wellbeing programme for adults of all ages. We have a particular focus on supporting behaviour change in people with increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes type 2 and cancer through providing information, signposting and motivational support. As well as the core team of wellbeing advisers, the wider Arun Wellbeing team members offer physical activity sessions, fuel poverty advice and a family-based wellbeing programme.
