We are a Residents’ Association controlled Council, operating a committee model for decision making. The Democratic Services Team sits at the very heart of the Council, providing support with committees, elections and for members.  We are looking for an enthusiastic Manager to lead the Service.

If you are the kind of person who approaches everything with energy and purpose, who is conscientious in their work and has a passion for democracy and governance then we are looking for you.

The Democratic Services Manager will have oversight of the management of the municipal calendar of meetings (preparation of agendas, reports and minutes), providing sound advice and guidance to councillors and officers on constitutional matters and the ethical framework. They will also provide support on elections.

The Team is looking to develop and improve support to the Council to ensure the efficient management of the decision-making processes in accordance with statutory and best practice requirements.

You should be politically aware and be an excellent communicator and be able to work collaboratively with ever changing priorities and deadlines. You must have experience in a comparative role in the public sector involving the administration of meetings, supporting decision making arrangements and providing advice to Members and Officers.  You should be someone who values continuous self-development and be able to support the learning and development of your Team.

Please note this is a politically restricted post. Attendance at evening meetings will be required.
