INDEPENDENT REMUNERATION PANEL (annual payment £520.25)
An exciting opening exists for a community minded resident of Uttlesford to make a contribution towards the effective administration of the District Council. A vacancy exists on the independent panel established to advise the Council on the appropriate level of basic and special responsibility allowances payable to elected councillors.
The Independent Remuneration Panel makes annual recommendations about the Council’s scheme of member allowances. The Council must have regard to those recommendations in applying a scheme of allowances. The Panel consists of three members each serving a four year term of office.
One of the members is reaching the end of her four year term creating a vacancy to be filled in May 2020. The next review of allowances will commence in the summer and the Panel will report to Council in December 2020. The person appointed will formally join the Panel in May to take part in this review.
Applications are invited from residents of the district and representatives of community or business groups who feel they have a positive contribution to make to their local community.
The successful applicant must be prepared to attend up to six meetings a year, undertake necessary research and evaluation of relevant data, and contribute to the preparation of the Panel’s annual report. The term of the appointment will be for four years.
