Career Grade Role
Here at Welwyn Hatfield Council, we are always looking to work better together to improve our Environmental Health services to the community. To do this, we are looking for an Environmental Health Technical Officer to join our Environmental Health team.
This is a role for someone that likes to problem solve, and takes pride in delivering a great service to customers. You’ll need to bring a positive attitude, be prepared to try new ways of working, celebrate success and show perseverance to achieve compliance. Organisational skills will be invaluable to manage a varied caseload, for which you will take personal responsibility.
There is a need to be flexible to prioritise based on public health risk and sometimes be prepared to work outside of regular office hours to deliver our services.
In this role you’ll be working within a small generic Environmental Health team responding to both service requests and delivering statutory interventions based upon your experience and competency.
You’ll need to be team player. By that we mean demonstrate the behaviours of our #OneTeam ethos to get the best outcomes for both our residential and business customers.
This is a busy team working across a broad range of Environmental Health activity but you don’t necessarily have to have experience of all areas, just a willingness to learn and support the wider team.
You will have a relevant qualification or experience in health, safety or environment, and/or regulatory services along with an understanding of the role and duties of Environmental Health. This is a frontline role, so good verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to explain complex legislation to a variety of audiences. Please ensure you refer to the role profile for full further details of the essential requirements in this role.
Closing date for applications is 31 March 2020.
Assessments and Interviews will be held on 14 April 2020.
