Sessional Worker

X2 Vacancies

Waltham Forest YOS are looking to improve the services they offer to young people under its supervision and victims of crime.

Successful candidates will be part of the multi-disciplinary Youth Offending Service that provides community and through care services to young people who progress through the youth justice system.

These roles will provide a ‘bank’ of workers who are able to provide support to the permanent staff team of the YOS, providing a level of flexibility to the Service and to people who are interested in working with young offenders outside of regular employment and may also be of interest to the retired / semi-retired or students.

These posts will appeal to individuals who most importantly can engage with, often difficult young people and ideally have particular skills that they can utilise to coach / mentor them. Relevant trades, crafts or sports qualifications would be advantageous.

For sessional roles for Restorative Justice* you will need significant, demonstrable experience in a related role or hold a recognised RJ qualification, together with recent experience. These roles will involve direct work with victims of crime as well as young people.

The roles and skills required are as follows:

  • To engage, motivate and support young people either on a 1:1 or group basis covering the following activities:
    • Reparation – Assist the Reparation Co-ordinator in delivering a range of reparation activities outdoors and indoors that focus on the young person providing a visible contribution to the local community where they reside
    • Sports mentoring / activities – Provide a diversionary activity for a young person / persons or assisting and supporting young people to engage in diversionary activities, outward bound activities or residential trips.
    • Other skills e.g craft, horticulture, trades.
    • * Restorative Justice

These roles are subject to enhanced DBS disclosures. Hourly pay rates will be from £10.73 - £13.51 dependent on experience and qualifications.
