Democratic Services Administration Officer – Member Services

Part-time 27 hours per week  

Salary £20,344 - £22,462 pa (pro rata)

We are looking to recruit an experienced Administration Officer with excellent interpersonal skills to provide administration and event management support to our elected Councillors.

This is a varied role for a highly motivated and well organised individual. You will be part of a team responsible for providing a range of support including; scheduling the Council’s work programme, servicing formal committee and Council meetings (which involves some evening work), the Member development programme, the Member Information Service, Member’s allowances and expenses and working closely with the Monitoring Officer in constitutional matters.

You will have excellent communication skills perhaps having worked previously with senior executives or elected politicians. A high level of accuracy, literacy and numeracy is required, along with a good understanding of local government procedures. Experience of minute-taking and PA support would be advantageous. Political sensitivity, diplomacy and discretion are essential attributes in the busy and varied role, and you will be required to undertake all these responsibilities with minimal supervision. You must be able to prioritise various tasks to meet exacting deadlines and maintain exceptional performance.

Reporting to the Senior Democratic Services Officer, you will also be involved with work on promoting local democracy, delivering elections and electoral registration processes.
