The Council has recently started an ambitious transformation programme to model how it works in order to support a new agile way of working, helping staff to become more flexible and responsive to the needs of the customer whilst responding to significant changes in technology.
We are seeking an Engineering & Buildings Senior Specialist to manage a multi-disciplinary engineering, surveying and maintenance team. We maintain an exciting portfolio of assets, including coastal sea defences, parks and open spaces (such as Radnor Park and the Coastal Park) a swimming pool and many tenanted buildings. With over 700 property and lands assets it is an incredibly diverse workload, ranging from managing the in house maintenance team, ensuring all compliance of corporate assets and undertaking large scale capital works.
The post holder will be expected to be educated to degree level, have a professionally recognised qualification in either a surveying or engineering discipline and relevant experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
The post holder will also have excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, councillors, professional agents and other members of staff, working both on their own initiative and as part of a team. We are looking for someone with either public or private sector experience of dealing with a wide portfolio of assets, including major capital schemes.
