Team Manager, Family Support - Disabled Children's Service

Disabled Children Social Care are now looking for a committed experienced Team Manager – Family Support to join our service.  This person needs to share our vision for improving the services we offer to the highest levels. We are looking for a manager who is a good team player, can develop the service and support the staff to achieve their best.

You will be at the helm of everything our dedicated staff are trying to achieve for Birmingham’s most vulnerable disabled children. This team has a role in supporting Short Breaks for disabled children, contact,  PPP/Stepping Stones and behaviour work with some of our children. We do this in a systemic and relational way which is intended to be solution focused to empower disabled children and young people and support their families.

Our aim is that we will have outcomes to improved enablement and social inclusion for disabled young people.  We want to have disabled children who are prepared to take their  place as adults and be prepared for work, and a place in society wherever possible.  We have ambition for disabled young people. You will also be responsible for overseeing the quality of care being offered by your staff, so you will supervise their work and maintain the appropriate legal, regulatory and statutory standards.

To succeed in a role, we need someone who has experience and is capable of making tough decisions quickly and efficiently. Quite literally, that means you’ll need to have plenty of experience in a similar environment, having supervised colleagues and successfully promoted a culture of change. With a Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) under your belt, you will be a SWE -registered professional who is confident enough to be fully accountable for the actions of your team. You will therefore work closely with them and with various agency partners to build innovative teams environment in which your staff are inspired and motivated to always achieve more. Good financial management, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to digest and interpret complex reports are also essential.
