Communications and Marketing Coordinator (Medway City of Culture Bid)

Medway has announced its intention to bid to be 2025 UK City of Culture and is seeking a skilled and innovative Communications and Marketing Coordinator to support the bid on a fixed term basis until 31 December 2021.  

The City of Culture bid aims to connect with people who work and live in Medway as well as businesses and organisations across the area and beyond, to build awareness and support for the bid and develop Medway’s proposal.  The role will play a central part in connecting local people and organisations with the campaign, its events and activities as well as aligned cultural activity in the area. 

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will deliver communications and marketing for the bid, running and monitoring the bid’s social media accounts, optimising press coverage, coordinating its newsletter and maintaining its website, building brand recognition through marketing and communications in partnership with a broad range of partners, stakeholders and supporters, under the direction of a senior manager. 

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing freelance contracts and volunteer or student placement positions as the workload requires.     

The role provides an opportunity to develop unique and innovative marketing, social media, media and web assets in a variety of forms and mediums. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will contribute to the development of marketing and communications strategy under the direction of the Bid Director.
