More Information

TCF Programme Manager

The Southampton City Region (covering Southampton and part of Hampshire) has received £57m of funding from the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) to deliver on our exciting and ambitious plan to transform transport connectivity.

Our ambition is to transform people’s journeys, lives and the places they live with better connections for walking, cycling and using public transport.

To help to deliver on our proposals we are looking for a proactive and organised individual to undertake the role of Transforming Cities Fund Programme Manager.   This is a 3-year fixed term position, primarily based within Southampton City Council’s Strategic Transport team, but will work in partnership with colleagues at Hampshire County Council.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape the transport future for the Southampton City Region with an exciting and innovative programme, which is being supported and closely monitored by the Department for Transport.  You will have extensive experience of delivering complex multi-million pound infrastructure projects, and ideally specific experience delivering transport and public realm schemes that use the latest innovations in transport planning. We are seeking people with a passion and knowledge of the latest transport planning initiatives and best practice in providing improvement to highway networks, cycling, mobility, public realm, bus priority and multi-modal transport interchange schemes.

You will need to have suitable civil engineering, transport planning or project management qualifications.  You will have experience of successful delivery of a range of large-scale infrastructure programmes or large scale projects through their full lifecycle. You will be confident with dealing with a range of stakeholders, contractors, Councillors and partners, and have experience of managing multi-million pound transport delivery budgets.

It is essential for you to be flexible, be able to work under pressure, ensure quality, and have the skills to lead a team to work collaboratively with partners and suppliers.  Prioritisation of workloads associated with multi-scheme delivery is a must.
