The role

Providing legal advice and representation to the Council on matters relating to child protection. You will manage a reasonable caseload of public law childcare and pre-proceedings matters, working collaboratively with the team to ensure best practice, including assisting in the supervision and training of less experienced staff.  You will also conduct your own advocacy by representing the Local Authority at Court hearings and will provide tailored legal advice to council officers.

What you'll need

You will be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive entitled to practice. As a great communicator you must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrable skills and strengths in negotiation, drafting, persuading and influencing.

You will be required to demonstrate advocacy skills and a willingness to undertake advocacy. To succeed in this role, you will have recent in-depth knowledge and post qualification experience in Child Care litigation.

The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
