About the role
The Survey Team is part of Transport Studies which is responsible for providing a database of traffic movement data by monitoring and maintaining traffic counting equipment across Surrey. We use the data to make important decisions on local transport and infrastructure changes to improve the economic prosperity, wellbeing and resident experience in Surrey.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work within the Survey Team. Working within the Survey Team, you will be the expert in collecting and managing data from across the County. You will install and maintain roadside equipment that monitors traffic, resolve technical problems that occur, enabling the collection of accurate and reliable traffic movement data. The job is very practical, involving a mixture of office, workshop and on-site work travelling throughout the county.
Educated to A-level or equivalent. Keen and willing to learn, highly organised, flexible about day-today activities and location of work as this is a very varied role. Adaptable, able to work on your own and with others, use of your own initiative, have good communication skills and a friendly manner. An interest in modern technology, electronics, AutoCAD and experience with MS Office and data management programmes will be advantageous. You must be computer literate and hold a full UK driving licence. Although this role is currently based at the NMIC in Leatherhead, there will be frequent visits to County Hall, Kingston, in addition to travelling around the county to our monitoring sites using a vehicle provided by Surrey County Council. There are plans for our base at County Hall, Kingston, to move to another location in the coming years and so this may change.

£27,641 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Surrey CC's Network Management Information Centre (NMIC), Unit 4 Mole Business Park, Leatherhead, KT22 7BA and driving countywide (vehicle provided).
