Specialist Housing Advisor

Why work for The Bridge? There are a hundred reasons.

Maybe you’ve known someone suffer without help, or perhaps you’re tired of seeing the same new stories about homelessness? Join us and you can help change lives.

Everyone at The Bridge has heaps of energy and positivity, and we are lucky to say we start every day knowing we can make a difference to local people.

We are a small charity, but we’re also a close-knit family that’s organised, focussed and driven.

There are loads of great benefits to working for The Bridge, such as the extra holiday days or the flexible working. However, these benefits are not why you join in the first place... Or why you stay. From day one you’ll receive all the training you need. Here, helping you develop your career and skills is a top priority. We value you, partly because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it really helps you achieve what you came to The Bridge for: changing other people’s lives for the better.

In your role as a Specialist Housing Advisor, no day will be the same. You will join our small but busy team in providing tailored housing advice to people living in Charnwood, including homelessness, possession proceedings, landlord and tenant issues, rent/mortgage arrears, housing options and accessing hardship funds. You will see clients both within our regular drop-in sessions and fixed appointments.

You will gain experience of working in partnership with colleagues in Local Authority Housing and Social Care Sectors, as well as colleagues in the Voluntary Sector, in order to support and promote the best possible outcomes for our clients.

As a valued employee, you will receive day to day support during your time at The Bridge, but alongside this you will have regular supervisions with your line manager in order to ensure you are fully equipped to provide the high standard of support that your clients deserve.

Application Process

If you are interested in applying to any of our vacancies, please download and complete the Application Form, listing the vacancies that you wish to be considered for.

Alongside the completion of this form, we would like you to record a short video (up to 3 minutes long) to help us find out a little more about you.

We are passionate about our Values, so in your video we would love to hear you discuss a topic that you are passionate about too. This doesn’t necessarily have to be housing related; you could pick any topic at all, from football to science.

This will be a great chance for you to showcase your personality and your interests.

When you’ve completed your Application Form and video recording, you can email them to, where applications will then be shortlisted for interview.

Check out our Top Tips for Filming a Video, to the right hand side of this screen, to make sure you are sending in the best possible representation of yourself!

If you have any questions about the process or wish to have an informal chat about the role please call 01509 260500 and ask to speak to Leanne Fletcher, Advice Services Team Manager.
