You will work with our busy Building Control team who are responsible for the planning, development and valuation of built environment projects. Assisting a team of surveying professionals, you will develop the knowledge, skills and experience you need to provide a diverse range of services and offer impartial, specialist advice on a variety of property issues.
You will assist the team with the administration of building regulation applications, provide advice to applicants, agents, and developers on building control and enforcement matters and process enquiries and applications.
To succeed you will have a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude with the ability to effectively deal with difficult situations or customers, organise and prioritise your own workload. You will understand construction related matters and have the ability to use IT packages and systems. A current UK driving licence is required and the ability to travel throughout the District.
You will hold an HND/HNC/ Level 3 Apprenticeship in a Construction related discipline or 3 A-Levels at least a grade C or higher (or equivalent), and GCSE Grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
Whilst working you will study to attain a Level 6 BSc Honours Degree in Building Control Surveying at The University of Wolverhampton. 20% of your working week will be dedicated to off-the-job learning, and you will be supported by your manager to enable you to perform productive work whilst completing your training.
The course requires apprentices to attend 3 one-week (one a term) intensive delivery sessions annually at the University of Wolverhampton and a three-day induction at the start.
The specific work structure surrounding time to study will be agreed with the successful applicant. All costs associated with your qualification including travel and study materials will also be met by the Council.
