Do you offer an excellent customer service experience and have a key eye for detail? Would you like to join us and be part of a very busy, motivated Planning Technical Support back office team? We are continually improving our working practices allowing us to provide a great service to those involved with the initial stages of planning applications? Find your greatness helping us work towards the government’s and Central Bedfordshire’s growth programme.


Working as part of a busy team, you will provide high level administrative support, respond to customer queries and ensure government and corporate targets are met.

Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Collecting and scanning any paper-based post and logging onto our database.
  • Downloading and registering all electronically received applications onto our database.
  • Validating all applications dealt with by the Planning department in priority order and within deadlines, to include Planning Applications, Treeworks Applications, Planning Appeals, Planning Enforcement enquiries.
  • Liaising with Agents and Applicants regarding their applications
  • Register application comments and requests.
  • Collate and progress requirements for regular Planning Committee meetings.
  • Deal with planning queries from the general public.


We are looking for a confident administrator who is keen and quick to learn. You will need to be self-motivated with a good team spirit and able to progress tasks without close supervision. Excellent communication skills are vital for this role allowing you to deal with a range of people politely and tactfully. You will need a good level of numeracy and literacy, and as all tasks are dealt with electronically, you will need to be IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft products.


We would like our ideal candidate to have some knowledge/awareness of entering and processing applications/enquiries onto a database. Experience working in Planning would not be necessary as training will be provided.
