A highly ambitious authority with big plans for the future, Enfield Council has its sights firmly fixed on creating a better borough. We’re regenerating industrial estates, creating social housing and leading the development of 10,000 homes in Meridian Water. And that makes our Council a hugely exciting place to be. We’ve also adopted a new structure for Finance & Commercial that’s designed for today’s fast-moving world. We now need skilled accountants who will support our work and thrive on our new opportunities.
Corporate Finance is the hub of the finance function, supporting a wide range of activities. It’s also where the greatest changes are happening within the Finance & Commercial Directorate. We’re moving to quarterly financial reporting, while developing new long-term financial forecasting models to support a post-COVID-19 world with more volatile income sources. Meanwhile, we’re cash-flow forecasting on a £4bn capital programme.
With more changes ahead, we need qualified (or nearly qualified) accountants who are excited about innovation and determined to do things right. Join us, and you could be producing financial statements, capital accounting, treasury and capital financing and MTFS models. You’ll also ensure that our financial accounts are a true reflection of Council activities, check compliance with legislation and provide specialist financial accounting advice. If that means challenging the status quo, you won’t be afraid to speak up.
There are several roles available focusing on areas such as financial strategy, financing, assets, systems and taxation. As part of a team that values development and flexibility, you’ll be expected to rotate regularly to expand your experience in a technically challenging and rewarding area of the business. You’ll therefore need strong financial accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills and a good grasp of local government finance and regulations. Advanced IT skills and clear communication will both be essential.
If you’ve got the talent we’re looking for, we’ll give you every chance to develop your expertise and access more senior roles. With our exciting new training programme, you can maximise opportunities, both for yourself and local residents.
