Estates & Security Commercial Adviser

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) works to protect the UK and advance our interests across the globe. Employing over 14,000 people in hundreds of countries, what we do is far-reaching and vitally important to the country’s prosperity. Facilities Management is key to meeting our strategic objectives, and we need a driven and enthusiastic Estates & Security Commercial Adviser to shape our commercial capabilities across our global portfolio. Work with us to build our standing overseas, take on challenging projects and gain invaluable experience in the process.

This is a varied and demanding role with the opportunity to build your skills and experience on a global scale. You will work with our Senior Commercial Adviser to develop and deliver our commercial category plan, which will add value and improve efficiency across our supply chains and global estates. It is a hands-on role that encompasses procurement, project management, supplier management and strong communication skills.

You will build and maintain an extremely high level of expertise throughout our team as you deliver the commercial category plan. Through our projects, you will gain exposure to high level commercial contracts and procurement processes, collaborating with other government departments to make our commercial activities a success. You will also represent us in government briefings.

You will have a good understanding of category management and stakeholder management, with relevant experience in a complex commercial environment or the public sector. You will be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and should either hold CIPS accreditation or be willing to work towards qualifying. You must be a British Citizen at the time of your application and passing security clearance is also a condition of your appointment.

Everyone at the FCO is also encouraged to develop their own skills and capabilities. You will have access to support and resources from high quality providers as well as mentors and coaches. In terms of other benefits, we offer flexible working alongside generous annual leave, a Civil Service pension, staff bonuses and recognition, childcare support and an employee assistance programme.

Closing date: Monday 20th July 2020.
