Wokingham Borough Council are seeking a Transport Planner/Senior Transport Planner to join their Transport Planning Team.
This is a superb opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated professional to join our dynamic Highways and Transportation Service. We’ll look to you to provide specialist input and utilise our consultants as required.
This role is open to Transport Planners with varying levels of experience. Depending on your suitability for the role, the post will be offered at Senior Transport Planner (Grade 9 - £37,849 - £42,683) or Transport Planner level (Grade 8 - £32,878 - £36,876) with an opportunity to later develop and advance to Senior level.
We offer the assurance that interviews and onboarding can take place remotely, with interviews set to take place the week commencing 3rd August 2020.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role covers a variety of transport planning activities. Your key responsibilities will include developing our Local Transport plan and overseeing its delivery.
You’ll play a vital role in designing our strategy and taking ownership of key documents. You’ll also develop strategic level interventions, including use of modelling and working with spatial planning teams to deliver mitigation for developments and improvements to the network.
The Climate Change Emergency is at the core of everything we do at Wokingham. Your key priorities will be Air Quality and Carbon reduction initiatives, such as modal shift and ULEV projects which includes working with the My Journey team on soft measures. You’ll also work with public transport providers to ensure we meet social need and help reduce the borough’s carbon footprint.
To be successful in the role, you’ll need to be well-versed in Transport planning with particular skills/interest in transport’s impact on climate change, congestion and air quality. It will be your responsibility to confidently respond to enquiries regarding these issues. You’ll also need knowledge of strategic modelling and experience in successfully bidding for scheme funding.
This is a senior role within the team, so you’ll be expected to hit the ground running when you start. As well as relevant transport planning experience, a relevant degree and membership of the CIHT is desirable.
