Recruitment & Resourcing Officer

The Human Resources service provides a comprehensive HR, Employment Relations and Pay and Pensions service to Council departments and schools. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, suitably skilled and experienced Recruitment and Resourcing Officer to join our established team on a fixed term basis to cover a period of maternity leave.

Supporting predominantly corporate recruitment, the duties of the post will include advising on advertisements and selection methods and tools, the preparation of recruitment documentation, carrying out pre-appointment checks, processing DBS checks, responding to queries on terms and conditions of employment and issuing contracts.  

You will ideally hold a recognised Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. You will have a sound understanding of pre-employment requirements and an up to date working knowledge of employment legislation, applicable to resourcing, recruitment, selection and issuing of employment contracts.

You must have experience of working in a Human Resources environment together with knowledge, understanding and experience of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, experience of working with large integrated HR and/or pay software systems and working with resourcing data. The Council uses a web based e-recruitment system; experience of a similar system would be helpful but is not essential.

You should have experience in dealing with high volumes of recruitment and will have the ability to manage your own time, prioritise tasks and work to very tight deadlines. We operate with a paperless system so it’s essential you are competent in the use of electronic document management systems. You must also be proficient in keeping accurate records as well as having strong communication skills to liaise with a range of candidates and hiring managers.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic the service is currently operating remotely and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The successful candidate will therefore be required to work remotely in carrying out this role. The relevant equipment will be provided.

This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave and is expected to end on 30th June 2021 or upon the return of the post holder whichever is the sooner.

Ideally you will work Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.
