The Planning Policy team within the Planning Service is responsible for preparation and maintaining the Council’s planning policy evidence base, the preparation of statutory and non-statutory Local Plan documents, the consultation and examination of these, and the monitoring of their implementation. It is also responsible for infrastructure planning, the Harrow Community Infrastructure Levy and monitoring S106 planning obligations.

The Team is embarking upon a review of the Harrow Local Plan to support the Council’s ambitions and continue our strong track record in housing and infrastructure delivery whilst protecting the borough’s heritage, environmental and economic assets.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed person to work as Principal Planning Policy Officer in a Fixed Term contract for two years (with a possible one year extension) to make a positive contribution to the delivery of the Local Plan review.

The Principal Policy Planner role provides more senior level professional input to the policy development process, including managing specific projects, alongside wider input into related policy and planning programmes.

Also the post holder will be responsible for the negotiation policy positions with internal stakeholders, as well as with external stakeholders. The role may also manage less senior staff within the team.

The post holder will report into the Planning Policy Manager and work closely with colleagues within the Planning Service as well as across the Council and external stakeholders.
