Principal Officer - Child Protection

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Birmingham Children’s Trust as a Principal Officer for Child Protection. We are on a continuous service improvement journey and are looking for enthusiastic and creative staff to join our experienced team.

You will be chairing strengths-based, family-focussed child protection conferences, working closely with families and professionals. The service is well-established, effective and resourced and you would be joining a team of skilled and experience practitioners who are supporting of each other and, especially, new colleagues.

We believe Birmingham is an exciting and vibrant place to practice the inclusive, strengths-based approach within Child Protection Conferencing and this could be your chance to be part of our journey.

We are looking for experienced, qualified practitioners who are passionate about their work in child protection and who practice with integrity and honesty.  You will be committed to reducing the likelihood of significant harm for the most vulnerable children and young people of our city and will promote an inclusive, relationship -based approach, enabling families to attend and actively engage with the Child Protection Conference and planning.

You will have at least 5 years post-qualifying experience in Social Work, particularly safeguarding, and a clear understanding of current social work issues and research. You will have managerial and/ or supervisory experience. Experience or knowledge of the Strengthening Families Model would be an advantage.
