Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and the surrounding areas offer a rich mix of culture, nature and leisure. Add to this, great schools and housing and you really do have everything you could want. The regeneration that has taken place, and continues to take place, across the borough has brought new energy and character.

Following a restructure in the Legal Services Team, we are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Lawyer to join our busy and friendly in-house legal team to help us shape and modernise the service and the wider Council in delivering its core services to the community.

Essential to your success in this role will be experience of housing litigation. This will include and is not limited to; anti-social behaviour; disrepair and homelessness cases. You will be involved in working closely with our Housing Teams to prepare and present cases at court.

A confident and persuasive communicator, you’ll be a strong team player with the ability to foster and build positive relationships at all levels.

Working with us, you’ll join a forward-thinking council which puts our customers first. We know that in order to provide the best for our residents and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where our people feel safe, content and valued.

It is essential you are a qualified solicitor with a practising certificate, Barrister or Legal Executive or hold an equivalent qualification.

In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that include a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.

Closing date for applications is 5 August 2020.
