Build something better.

Be part of our new Property Management team.

Apply now.

Something exciting is happening in Camden. We’re launching a new Property Management Service that’s better for our borough. To take on an agenda that’s bursting with varied and interesting projects, we’ve restructured our team and created a number of senior roles. Join a Council that cares about its people – and be part of something new.

The role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be integral to our team. Working within our extensive capital investment programme, you’ll contribute to a range of residential, commercial, corporate and educational building projects. Our investment includes the building fabric as well as M&E schemes, with a value of c.£150m per year. You’ll help us spend wisely, managing financial procurement issues and applying cost control.

In short, it’s all about obtaining best value and making the most of our money. You’ll give expert advice on procurement routes and help proactively with scoping. You’ll also report on the day to day aspects of capital projects, ensure contractors’ costs are monitored and audit the financial outcomes of schemes. A skilled Quantity Surveyor, you’ll have an accountancy background plus experience across capital works.

Some posts at Camden are politically restricted, which means individuals holding these posts cannot have active political role. For a list of all politically restricted roles at Camden click here.

About you

We’re looking for awareness of standard methods of measurement relating to fabric works and mechanical and electrical installations, as well as various methods of cost control. Ideally, degree-educated (or equivalent), you’ll also have a firm grasp of housing legislation, building pathology and construction contract issues. If you can confidently represent the Council and speak at public meetings too, there may be a place for you in our new team.

About Camden

Modern, award-winning offices; career development; flexible working hours: our team enjoys all the above, as well as discounted access to on-site leisure facilities, including a swimming pool. Join us and you’ll be free to learn and excel as part of a diverse, inclusive organisation that values equality and social justice.

Our new service launches soon. Be part of something special.
