Mechanical and Electrical Manager (Electrical)

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are looking to appoint two key roles to join our award-winning Property Services (Housing) team.

On offer are two fantastic positions responsible for the effective management of the council’s mechanical, electrical and compliance contracts, and relevant contractors.

These roles will primarily be responsible for overseeing the domestic gas contract across the stock including, breakdown, servicing, install works and the water hygiene contract, and the domestic M & E contracts such as door entry, emergency lighting and lift maintenance.

You will manage legal obligations applicable to landlords, ensure mandatory requirements are fully complied with and build and maintain working relationships across all council departments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of contracts from meeting targets, managing budgets and undertaking quality control.
  • Visiting sites, supervising designs and authorising quotations.
  • Liaising with residents ref. access and complaints.

You must be suitably qualified for these roles and ideally have a background in social housing, experience of managing similar contracts, a track record of achieving compliance and accuracy in data management and control. You will be experienced in managing multiple contracts / projects from £5k up to the value of £900k.

You will also have a clear team focus as you support other members of your department and others across the council. Communication skills are crucial as you ensure that all communications are accessible and comprehensive, as well as responding to relevant enquiries.

Health and Safety must be in the forefront of what you do. Equally, you will ensure policies are adhered to throughout the service and have experience of producing and interpreting KPI's to drive continuous improvements across the contracts.
