Head of Planning Services

Dartford is undergoing enormous change with some of the biggest development opportunities in Kent. You have probably heard of Bluewater, Ebbsfleet Garden City and London Paramount.  But there’s more in the pipeline. Dartford is a small Borough with big plans and we intend to put Dartford Town Centre on the map!

But any change must be a change for the better.  As a seasoned planning professional, you will be committed to ensuring that new development delivers excellent living, working and leisure environments and brings regeneration benefits for the whole community, securing infrastructure improvements in tandem with growth.

Dartford has a clear spatial strategy and you will ensure that development is guided to only the most sustainable locations and that valued elements of the local environment are protected and enhanced. In this role, you will inherit a high performing and motivated Planning team with Policy and Development Management well-integrated and supportive of each other.  The structures of a robust Planning Service are in place with a Five Year Land Supply, healthy housing delivery and preparation on a new Local Plan well-advanced.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Planning Team including Planning Enforcement, as well as having responsibility for Transport Planning and Building Control.  You will play your part in and influence corporate projects such as the regeneration of Dartford Town Centre and cross-boundary projects such as a Crossrail extension and the Thames Estuary initiative.

We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Planner who will ensure effective delivery of the service.  You will have strong influencing, communication, partnership working skills and a solutions-focused approach to bring our vision of a future Dartford to fruition.

If you have a positive attitude to change, genuinely want to make a difference and thrive in a busy and challenging work environment, this could be the job for you.

Interviews to take place 3rd September 2020
