The Enfield Safeguarding and Quality Service is looking to appoint a full time Independent Reviewing Officer/Child Protection Conference Chair on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for chairing Child Protection Conferences of children subject to Child Protection Plans, statutory reviews of children who are Looked After. You will also be required to chair some complex meetings,

Your primary focus is to quality assure the care planning and review process for each child and to ensure that their wishes and feelings are given full consideration. You will be responsible for Chairing Child Protection conferences and statutory reviews. You will ensure that plans for these children meet the highest standards and are implemented appropriately.

Commitment to helping maintain the existing excellent standards of the Service, and in meeting our statutory responsibilities around timescales and deadlines is essential.

You will need substantial management experience in statutory social work with children and families and of chairing complex meetings. You will have a thorough working knowledge of the legal framework relating to child protection and looked after children, including Care Planning Regulations and the duties and responsibilities of the IRO as set out in the IRO Handbook.

You will join a very busy but supportive and committed team and play a full part in its operation of ensuring the effective safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of vulnerable children and young people in Enfield. We are focussed on improving outcomes for children, developing ways to improve reviewing the plans for looked after children and managing child protection conferences.

In the recent OFSTED Inspection (2019), Inspectors “saw clear evidence of IROs intervening and advocating appropriately” for Looked After Children.

You are required to hold a relevant social work qualification and Social Work accreditation.
