Job introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Learning & Development professional with management experience to join the Orbis IT & Digital team based at Brighton & Hove City Council, leading a small team and delivering learning opportunities for council staff members as we continue with our enterprise Office 365 rollout.

Fixed term for: 18 months/Until 31/03/2022

Interview date: 6 October

For an informal discussion, please contact Karen Guthrie - Service Transition Manager on 01273 293448.

About the role

The Service Transition team is responsible for sourcing and delivering learning opportunities for corporate customers and traded customers (such as schools), and we support a mixture of specialist business software and tools alongside industry standard personal productivity platforms.

We are looking for an inspirational communicator who is creative, energetic and self-motivated and has experience of managing and delivering the large-scale up-skilling of a corporate workforce. You should be an expert in Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 10 end-user features, including accessibility features, and be confident with a range of devices such as Windows laptops, desktops and hybrids and iOS phones/tablets.  Ideally, you will have used Microsoft Teams extensively and be conversant with its use in a range of environments. You should also be completely comfortable with delivering both face-to-face and live online training and with creating written and video-based help and guidance.

You will lead a learning & development programme to introduce and reinforce the features of the platform and other complementary tools to our staff on a differentiated basis and through a variety of channels/media.  As a key team player within the Council’s ‘Digital Organisation Programme’, you will also be expected to influence a range of business areas to harness the potential of the Office 365 productivity platform and tools to improve their processes, collaboration and output, and support them to achieve this.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Company information

As part of Brighton & Hove City Council's ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process, without prior notice if a suitable redeployee (internal employee at risk of redundancy) is identified.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage applicants from a BME or White Other background as well as those who identify as, LGB, male or trans as these groups are currently under-represented in our Directorate workforce.
