Health Visitor

Achieving for Children is an award-winning social enterprise created by Kingston and Richmond Councils in 2014, expanding into the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in 2017. We are responsible for delivering the entirety of children’s services in all three local authorities.

Achieving for Children has been up and running for four years, and in that time, we have established a reputation as one of the leading children’s services providers in the country. We are one of the Department for Education’s eight ‘Partners in Practice’, tasked with leading improvement across the sector.

The successful applicants will be providing the Health Visiting service to residents of Royal Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead.

As a Health Visitor for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing a comprehensive Health Visiting service in accordance with AFC’s Health Visiting Standard Operational Procedure and ‘The Healthy Child Programme 0-5 years’. We assess child and family needs, using the appropriate assessment and risk assessment tools ensuring that at each contact with a child an assessment of the health and developmental need is conducted.
  • Helping develop and implement outcome focused care plans and evaluate care given, in partnership with clients.
  • Developing and facilitate Health Visiting drop in clinics, health promotion activities and groups, identifying and responding to individual client and local health needs and to incorporate the four principles of Health Visiting.
  • Providing care according to the available evidence of best practise.
  • You will be working in a small Health Visiting team (Ascot, Belcore, Ellington Windsor).

To be a Health Visitor for AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:

  • RGN/RMW/ DIp HE (child/adult/ learning disabilities).
  • Current NMC membership.
  • Specialist Public health Nurse (SCPHN) qualification.
  • Knowledge of relevant theory that informs practice delivery.
  • Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families, advocating the voices of those we are working.
  • Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations, written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may include families, children or young people).
  • Have an active commitment to a culture of innovation including a willingness to challenge traditional ways of working.
  • Ability to be able to work flexibly according to the needs of the clients/ service.
