Service Manager - Child Protection

Job Title: Service Manager - Child Protection Service
Location: County Hall, Hertford (flexible)
Salary Range: £49,866 - £53,042 pa (pro rata) + £5000 market forces
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

Are you looking to make a difference?
The core functions of this position will be ensuring the delivery of timely and high quality child protection conferences. You will be responsible for managing a team of Child Protection Conference Chairs. You will also manage the Local Authority Designated Officers, Child Protection Schools Liaison Officers and Family Group Conference (this is under review and may change in the future). You will be managing direct spend and staffing budgets.

At every stage, you’ll be supported by a well-established senior management team and have exceptional opportunities for learning and development.

The requirements

Knowledge of Children Acts 1989 and 2004, Adoption and Children Act 2002, Leaving Care Act 2000, Children and Young Person’s Act 2008 and all associated Regulations and Guidance, including Working Together, is essential.

Your substantial experience of managing within children’s services will include extensive multi-agency working, where you will have a proven ability to negotiate successfully. You’ll also be capable of identifying the learning and development needed to support service improvements.

As a qualified and registered social worker, you’ll ideally hold a relevant management qualification.  As you will be ensuring value for money across the service, budgetary management skills are important.
