Assistant Director for Children's Education

Are you passionate about promoting educational excellence for all children and young people?

We're looking for an outstanding leader to join Lincolnshire County Council's Children Services team – officially rated one of the best in the country. You'll be part of a Senior Leadership Team that is proud of its innovative approach to service delivery, supported by dedicated staff and partners who put children and families first in everything they do.

As Assistant Director for Education, you'll take a lead role in delivering an excellent 0-19 (25 for SEND) education infrastructure maximising opportunities for all children and young people. You'll have the opportunity to influence and work with Lincolnshire's highly collaborative and committed head teachers, school governors, academy sponsors and other strategic partners to promote educational excellence and tackle underperformance.

You'll be responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of a number of key areas:

  • School Improvement Services
  • Statutory School and Academy Standards monitoring
  • SEND (special educational needs and disability) including Children with Disabilities services
  • Education Support services including fair access to all schools for every child
  • Provision for children outside mainstream education or missing education.

Driving the Council's change programme, you will ensure that the Service is appropriately resourced, organised and structured to meet the Council's statutory obligations and ambitions.

We're looking for someone whose leadership can provide a culture and environment in which our excellent team can flourish.

To be successful in this complex and diverse role, you'll have an advanced knowledge and skill level in a number of specialist disciplines, including education,  finance, management and procedural matters. With a budget responsibility of approximately £10 million alongside oversight and influence of budgets in the region of £470 million you will have a proven track record of budget management ensuring resources and infrastructures available to the Council are utilised effectively and efficiently. You'll be able to draw on a background of success, with experience of systems leadership in education, in line with national and local guidance.
