Internal Audit Practitioner Apprenticeship, Level 4

Internal Audit Practitioner Apprenticeship, Level 4

Waltham Forest Council is ambitious and bursting with energy and opportunity. Over the coming year we will build on our incredible year as the Mayor’s first London borough of Culture 2019.

We have been working with our communities to set out what we want Waltham Forest to be by 2030; how that relates to the ever-changing world/ climate emergency, and what that means for the services and infrastructure that we need to provide.  We need to make sure that everything we are doing today supports that vision, and helps our residents succeed in an increasingly uncertain world.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Internal Audit Apprentice, to develop the skills needed to be competent in all aspects of internal audit engagement and support the work of the Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud Division.

You will develop a range of skills to undertake audit work and apply this in practice, including researching the activities being audited, data gathering, analysis and interpretation through face to face, email and other forms of data gathering techniques; performing tests and analysing the effectiveness of controls and communicating your results.

About you

You will be proactive, enthusiastic and keen to learn.  You’ll fit into the team with your interpersonal skills and professional manner, and not be afraid to ask questions.  You’ll be able to work on your own and know when you need to ask for guidance.  You’ll also be able to record information accurately and have great IT skills.

You’ll have A levels or equivalent (which may be another Level 3 qualification, for example an Apprenticeship or BTEC or another relevant qualifications) or experience and related practical experience and 5 GCSE grades A*- C/9-4; including English and maths or equivalent.

Apprenticeship Training

We’ll support you to complete your Internal Audit Practitioner apprenticeship to obtain:

·       IIA Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk

·       Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Part 1 – Essentials of Internal Auditing

We’ll also give you full access to the Council’s internal professional development training and give you extra training on systems you might use to complete your work.

If you have a passion for learning while working in an interesting and fulfilling role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Kevin Campbell-Scott, Deputy Head of Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud, on 020 8496 4487.
