About us

The Public Health team delivers and commissions a wide range of services to improve the health and wellbeing of Hertfordshire residents including health visiting, school nursing, and mental health promotion. We are looking for a highly motivated individual, passionate about mental health and wellbeing, to join our busy team and develop and lead a cross agency approach to mental health communications and engagement.   

The Role

Under the guidance of the Health Improvement Lead - Children and Young People, and working closely with key partners from across the mental health system, in this exciting newly established role you will develop and manage communications and engagement within the child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) system.

You will lead on effective partnership working across the CAMH system to enable consistent and shared messaging about CYP mental health, helping to achieve system wide change and stakeholder confidence.

This role will involve close working with partners within Hertfordshire County Council, the NHS, and and other relevant external partner agencies, including schools, colleges and the voluntary sector, to implement a programme of work that takes a whole systems approach to promoting good mental health and ensuring that professionals and public have sufficient understanding and knowledge of the system and how to access information and support.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with senior operational experience of working with media, commissioning and briefing service providers, managing projects, co-production with children, young people and families, and holding external professionals to account. 

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a communications/marketing or related discipline, and have significant understanding and experience of modern, effective communication techniques and systems, within a complex organisation/partnership.

The candidate should have demonstrable knowledge of public or mental health including an understanding of current policy and evidence around mental health promotion.

You will have exceptional interpersonal, influencing and relationship managing skills, including experience of operating at all levels, and a commitment to working collaboratively and as part of a team.

You will be highly motivated, with a passion for promoting good mental health and wellbeing.  You will be able to use your initiative when appropriate, and have a proven track record of contributing to multi-agency programmes, and engaging with a range of public sector and private organisations. You will have the flexibility to work on a variety of different projects at any one time, prioritising your work and managing tight deadlines, and delivering outcomes.

Line management experience is also desirable.

You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, have experience of using social media and online video conferencing platforms, and have excellent presentation skills.
