Our transport network is at the heart of this and the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) is responsible for setting the region’s transport strategies and policies; leading and delivering major transport schemes across the region; and co-ordinating the transport input of the region’s three constituent council’s – Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Specialist to join the team. Based in Bristol and working to the Head of Transport, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Authority’s Transport Vision, Joint Local Transport Plan, Spatial Development Strategy and transport modelling commissions, as well as supporting key regional transport projects and providing professional advice on transport and related environmental issues.
You’ll be a key member of a small team with a challenging and varied workload. You’ll have an enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in our region; a degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies/Science or relevant field; demonstrable experience of contributing to key transport projects and strategy documents (such as local transport plans and land-use planning strategies and an extensive understanding of transport and highways modelling, legislation, challenges and best practice.
