Finance Data Assistant

Are you someone with an interest in finance and data? Then join Shelter for 3 months as a Finance Data Assistant and you could soon be playing a key support role within our Finance department

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best in class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting but also difficult time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

About the Role
This interesting role sits within the Finance Systems team. We support and improve Shelter's financial information systems and help make sure that our financial processes are efficient, easy to use, and well controlled. We also manage reporting tools to help everyone at Shelter fulfil their financial responsibilities and look after our resources. Your challenge will be to ensure that our establishment data is correct on our ERP system, helping our Financial Planning and Analysis team to monitor and report on staff spend effectively. This will require you to collaborate with our analysts to understand the staffing levels across the charity and load data into the relevant fields in our Unit4 ERP system in an efficient and effective manner. This means you'll also get involved in the development of, and changes to, the leaver's process, as well as updating location data and project end dates to enable better user experience and improved financial controls. Depending on capacity there is a range of financial data beyond establishment to work on too, including personal expenses, role access and credit card task management.

About you
Commercially aware, customer-focused and comfortable collaborating as part of a team, you have great time management skills, strong attention to detail, excellent numeracy and intermediate Excel skills (with SQL useful). What's more, you're proficient in MS Office applications like Outlook and Word. Experience with accounting software (particularly Unit 4 ERP/Agresso) would be great, but not essential, as would a proven ability to identify and implement improvements to business processes.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
