Committee Services Manager (Maternity Cover 12 months minimum)

The Role 

We are seeking an enthusiastic Committee Services Manager to support the authorities elected members and senior officers in continuing to deliver an efficient committee service. This opportunity will be on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave and it is desirable that the successful candidate will have a short handover period with the current Committee Services Manager. 

The successful candidate will lead a small, friendly team in a challenging and stimulating environment so you must be organised, accurate and able to work under pressure to pre-determined deadlines.

The role will also involve the creation of agendas and minutes of meetings (administered using the system), so the successful candidate must be able to analyse complex documents and discussions to extract and summarise the key points. 

This role also includes management of the Council’s committee timetable, providing constitutional advice and ensuring that elected members have access to appropriate development opportunities.

You must also be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and show that you have political sensitivity, tact and effective prioritisation skills

Essential qualifications/experience 

  • Educated to good standard.
  • Extensive experience at a senior level in a democratic services environment
  • Leadership and management experience

  • Experience of dealing with strategic/sensitive political issuesDesirable qualifications/experienc 
  • Clean driving licence
  • Civic protocol and procedures
  • Knowledge of the system
  • ADSO Certificate in Democratic Services Knowledge
