Health & Housing Integration Officer

Health & Housing Integration Officer
(Temporary 18 months fixed term)

Full-time (36 hours flexible)

It’s an exciting time to join the Community Wellbeing team within Spelthorne. Construction is underway for our redeveloped temporary accommodation for families, and our brand new purpose built supported accommodation for single homeless residents. We have also just launched our ambitious Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy 2020-25 which aims to end the use of bed and breakfast accommodation, promote independence and wellbeing and maximise the use of the private rented sector for homelessness prevention and relief.

We are also working closely with Surrey County Council’s Adult Social Care teams and the local hospitals and health partners to deliver innovative and appropriate options to facilitate discharge from hospital and prevent admissions.

To support this work, we are looking for a Health & Housing Integration Officer to lead on supported housing initiatives and opportunities in Spelthorne.

Working as part of a small, friendly and ambitious team, the successful candidate will have an eye for detail and strong organisational skills combined with a strategic outlook. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision to tight deadlines and deliver work to a high standard, developing on competencies and taking on additional responsibility over time.

As a member of the wider Community Wellbeing Group, you will become an ambassador for the Council, promoting the existing range of independent living services offered by the Council, pursuing opportunities for the development of new services, and supporting the implementation of the Council’s wider strategies.

Ideally, you will have some experience of working in a supported housing, hospital or social care environment, with a particular understanding of the different types of accommodation and the challenges faced by the sector. You will have strong negotiation and influencing skills, and will be able to work collaboratively with partners, whilst being able to justify your decisions if scrutinised.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in Spelthorne, and in doing so, support some of the most vulnerable residents in our community.

Closing date:           11 October 2020 (11.59pm)
