Job Title: Safeguarding & Incident Monitoring Officer
Location: Hertford
Salary Range: £35,745 to £39,880 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 12 month Secondment / Fixed Term Contract

The role

Based in the Public Health Contracts and Commissioning Team, you will report to an experienced Commissioning Manager and provide support to the department’s Safeguarding Group to progress activities that support the inclusion of safeguarding in all Public Health services, and monitor the degree to which Public Health meets the safeguarding standards.

This will include reviewing safeguarding capacity and skills across the Public Health department workforce, developing activities to promote safeguarding, and supporting quality assurance arrangements for internal and contracted services.

You will monitor incidents, both internal to Public Health and reported by commissioned services, and analyse and report on themes and trends. You will ensure that any investigations are undertaken in line with polices and procedures, and work with contract managers to confirm that any learning points have been embedded in practice.

You will support contract managers in undertaking quality assurance visits and other mechanisms to ensure the safeguarding policies and processes within the service meet our requirements. As such you will need to keep abreast of best practice around monitoring of safeguarding practices to inform contract management processes around safeguarding to inform and develop the department’s Quality Assurance Framework.

You will support the various self-assessments set by the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and play a key role in implementing any recommendations for improvement.

You will liaise with safeguarding, incident monitoring and quality assurance leads in other departments and partner agencies across the county, to contribute to the development of consistent and effective practice. You will also represent the department at a range of sub-groups.
