Heritage Action Zone Officer

£32,234 - £33,782 per annum, NS11

Newark and Sherwood District Council has secured funding from Historic England to deliver Newark’s Heritage Action Zone (HAZ). The HAZ programme is a national initiative led by Historic England, to be delivered in partnership with the local community.

We are looking to recruit a suitable person to deliver the HAZ programme, working in partnership within a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll be the first point of contact of the Newark HAZ, monitoring and implementing a 4 year programme of projects and championing heritage matters within the HAZ area.  You’ll need previous experience of working within the heritage sector and of managing and administering a grant funded programme; previous experience of partnership working is also essential.  You’ll need superb organisational and communication skills and be able to establish, maintain and develop effective working relationships with a range of partners, statutory agencies and stakeholders.  Initially for 4 years, this contract has the possibility for extension if the project is successfully delivered and as part of our pro-active conservation programme.

As part of the role you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of flexible working, a generous holiday allowance, discounted staff parking and gym membership and a very competitive occupational pension. We’re an ambitious, modern and forward thinking Council and we’re looking for somebody with the same values as ours to join us.

For an informal chat about the role please contact Oliver Scott ( or 01636 655847).

Closing Date – 12:00 noon, Monday 2 November 2020.

Interviews – week commencing 9 November 2020

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed an interview provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specification on their application form.
