An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join Surrey Children’s Services and contribute to our improvement journey, specifically within the realm of Corporate Parenting. This position would suit an independent thinker who understands the Corporate Parenting Vision and has high aspirations for children and improving their outcomes.
The community vision for Surrey contains a clear commitment to promoting the wellbeing of children and to ensure that ‘no child is left behind’. This aim applies to all children and young people in the county, but we must have a particular obligation to those children and young people who are ‘looked after’ by Surrey County Council. We are ‘Corporate Parents’ to these young people and, as such, we have legal and moral responsibilities towards them like to those we have towards our own children. In simple terms we need to be good parents who aim to be the best possible parents we can be.
The post holder will provide professional project management to the Corporate Parenting Services within SCC. This work is overseen by the Corporate Parenting Board which is chaired by the lead member for children. It will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to lead projects in a collegiate manner with several agencies including Health, Education and Social Care. They will lead projects to ensure aims are met, performance is fed back to the service and ensure plans are reviewed to reflect this.
Good skills in project management, performance and assessment are essential. But this needs to be complimented by sound experience in the public sector, preferably in social care with technical knowledge of Corporate Parenting. You will be able to demonstrate energy, commitment and an understanding of how you can contribute to improving outcomes for children. You should be able to demonstrate experience of leading in a collegiate manner and delivering budgets within a budget constraint.
