The Role

The role as a family first practitioner is to work predominantly directly with young people who have committed a criminal offence, however you could pick up cases from other areas including young people/children who are displaying harmful sexualised behaviour, being criminally or sexually exploited, trafficked or go missing.  The out of court team work with young people who have an outcome of diversion or youth conditional cautions is based in early help and not the youth offending service.  You will deliver a broad range of programmes, give guidance and advice and build and maintain relationships with professionals, young people and their families.

Qualifications required are a Minimum of National Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area or a willingness to work towards and a commitment to continuous professional development

How You Can Make a Difference

We are looking for hard working, motivated and enthusiastic team players to join our out of court team, the pace is fast and the work can be complex.  You will need excellent engagement and communication skills as well as being pedantic on detail when carrying out your case management work on our IT systems. Safeguarding is about evidencing as well as the interventions you carry out directly with the young person so you must be strong in both areas.

We are looking for people who can work in an extremely tight team but also make good risk management decisions alone, once trained.  Time keeping and flexibility to ensure the work is complete and on time to meet youth justice national standards is essential. You must be able to plan and organise your work have natural professional curiosity and be able to work in a multi agency one team around the family approach.  You must have a can do attitude as this work can be very demanding at times but at the same time extremely rewarding.
