Housing Enabling Assistant (CHOU021)
Salary £20,903 pa - £23,080 pa plus car allowance up to £1,239 pa (subject to individual circumstances)
Our Housing Enabling Team undertakes a wide range of activities in order to deliver affordable housing for those in need in the district. We work with planning and legal colleagues as well as Housing Associations and developers to ensure delivery of new affordable housing in compliance with our planning policies for new developments. We also work through other initiatives including the development of our own sites, Self-Build, Rural Exception Sites and Community Land Trusts to maximise the provision of new affordable housing in Mid Sussex. The Enabling Team also holds responsibility for the return to use of empty homes in Mid Sussex, sourcing property to acquire for use as temporary accommodation, the promotion of shared ownership properties and the approval of shared ownership nominees, the maintenance of the self build register and Gypsy and Traveller site provision.
The Housing Enabling Assistant will support the work of the team and be involved across the full range of activity in the section. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys problem solving and creative thinking and who can contribute to a project management approach to deliver new initiatives. This role involves a range of administrative tasks to support the service. You will also need a high level of computer literacy and keyboard skills and a focus on accuracy and ensuring deadlines are met. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and concise monitoring information through the use of excel and to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. A knowledge of TEAMS will also be beneficial.
It is desirable for the post that applicants have access to a car and hold a full driving licence, in which case a car allowance will be paid, however applications will also be considered from those who are currently not in this position.
