Job Duties:

Integrated Services for Learning is part of Hertfordshire County Council’s Children's Services. It is a multi-disciplinary service comprising of Specialist Advisory Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Specialist Support Staff, Statutory SEN Services and Educational Support Centres.

Our teams work with babies, children and young people with a range of needs including autism and other communication difficulties, sensory and physical impairments and specific learning difficulties.

We currently have an opportunity for a Habilitation Specialist within the Vision Impairment Team, SEND Specialist Advice and Support Service. You will plan and deliver programmes to develop the orientation and mobility skills, and independent daily living skills of children and young people who have vision impairment (VI). This will involve working with children and young people and their Parents/Carers, in their homes, Early Years settings and schools countywide.

You need experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or a disability. Knowledge of Habilitation work is advantageous. You will preferably already hold the recognised BSc Habilitation Work or Graduate Diploma, Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People). If you do not hold the qualification you will be expected to obtain this within three years.

You’ll need to be flexible and have excellent interpersonal skills. We offer a supportive working environment, specialist training and a lease car may be available.
