Intensive Housing Support Officer

Intensive Housing Support Officer
(12 months fixed term)

Full-time (36 hours flexible)

Salary £30,131 - £32,152 (dependent on experience)

Work base: Flexible, with remote working expected into 2021, subject to regular review. Postholder must be able to visit clients where they may be living or bedding down.

It’s an exciting time to join the Community Wellbeing team within Spelthorne. Construction is underway for our redeveloped temporary accommodation for families, and our brand-new purpose built supported accommodation for single homeless residents. We have also just launched our ambitious Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy 2020-25 which aims to end the use of bed and breakfast accommodation, promote independence and wellbeing and maximise the use of the private rented sector for homelessness prevention and relief.

We don’t yet know what the full impact that Covid-19 will have on our community. We do know that many of our residents will in time have difficulties in keeping a roof over their head. In order to prevent them from losing their home, we are looking for an Intensive Housing Support Officer to support the Housing Options team for the next twelve months.

You will be part of a small but friendly team of support officers, but part of the wider Housing Options team, so you’ll be well supported. You must have a high standard of both written and verbal communication and be able to keep clear and concise file notes of the work you carry out with clients. You’ll have experience of working with clients who present with complex needs, as well as producing progression plans with clients – including those with drug and/or alcohol dependence issues.

You must be self-motivated, flexible, and responsive to the needs of the clients in your caseload.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in Spelthorne, and in doing so, support some of the most vulnerable residents in our community.

 Closing date:           22 November 2020 (11.59pm)

Interview date:        Tuesday 1 December / Friday 4 December

Interviews will be held via MS Teams.
