Role Purpose

We are looking for an outstanding leader in public health to take forward our healthy adults programme in Tower Hamlets. Our work is framed by life course, and your challenge will be to strengthen the local public health system to safeguard and improve the health of young, middle aged and older adults in the borough. Tower Hamlets is a fascinating place to live and work. It is an inner city London borough that is full of contrasts and extremes. For centuries, it has had amongst the highest levels of social deprivation and health inequalities in the country. However, over the past decades it has also been home to areas of great affluence such as Canary Wharf and Wapping. The population is highly diverse, mobile and young and is changing rapidly due to both population growth and new trends in migration. All of this makes Tower Hamlets a fantastic, exciting and fulfilling place to work as a Public Health consultant. You will be joining a Public Health Division that has led innovative public health work that is recognised at London and national levels. We have a strong track record of achievement, excellent partnership working and a strong reputation for high quality analytical public health work. We are well established as a training location. In addition to Public Health SpRs we have Academic F2s and Sports and Exercise Medicine SpRs. We have strong links with the NHS and local universities. The Royal London Hospital and Queen Mary University are in the borough. In sum, if you are up to challenging and developing yourself as public health leader, Tower Hamlets offers you exceptional opportunities.
