More about the role:


The Tenant & Leasehold Participation Team deliver an efficient and responsive Landlord Service to Home Ownership and Leasehold customers. As a Home Ownership Officer, you will ensure that income is maximized, both through recovery of charges and sales income from low-cost home ownership. The role requires a strong customer focus to deal with problems efficiently and effectively, saving costs and minimising any complaints.


The team follow very specific processes to ensure that the council can recover costs that have been incurred on repairs and improvement works. This team has been high performing, with arrears on service charges kept low and sales progressed and completed. We promote an ethos of continual service improvement, with the completion of All Saints View in 2021 and a willingness to explore the potential for other shared ownership properties for different demographics.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to make clear decisions under pressure, using evidence and sound judgment and experience. You will be someone who works across boundaries to better understand customer perspective and seeks out customer insight to shape decisions. You will also put the customer at the heart of everything you do & embed equality and diversity in all aspects of service delivery. You will be able to stay calm and focused under pressure and in volatile situations. 


Your skills and experience will ideally include: 

  • Managing a private home ownership or leasehold portfolio
  • Promoting low-cost home ownership
  • Knowledge of partner agencies
  • Lease enforcement and rent collection
  • A strong negotiator, have good listening skills, be resilient and able to deal with difficult situations. 
  • An up-to-date knowledge of Shared Ownership and Leasehold Legislation, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit.
  • A track record of meeting KPI's and delivering projects.
