Placement Commissioning Officer

Achieving for Children is an award-winning social enterprise created by Kingston and Richmond Councils in 2014, expanding into the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in 2017. We are responsible for delivering the entirety of children’s services in all three local authorities.

Achieving for Children has been up and running for four years, and in that time, we have established a reputation as one of the leading children’s services providers in the country. We are one of the Department for Education’s eight ‘Partners in Practice’, tasked with leading improvement across the sector.

The Placement Commissioning Officer will contribute to the delivery of strategic commissioning intentions identified as part of the commissioning service. This will include supporting the establishment of relationships with internal and external suppliers and organisations that deliver services and support that meet the needs and outcomes of children and young people.

The post holder will be involved in the sourcing of children’s and young people placements that are safe, secure and consistent with their identified needs ensuring all such placements are sufficiently resourced and have the capacity to deliver positive outcomes that support the personal, social and cultural development as well as the health and wellbeing of the child and young person.

Working closely with the Strategic Commissioning Manager, you will deliver delegated activities or products in relation to commissioning, contract management, policy and planning activities as identified. This will include market engagement and the development of effective partnership arrangements with placement providers.

You will assist in the delivery of jointly commissioned services across the health, housing and social care economy in the most efficient and cost-effective ways to ensure value for money. and support the Strategic Commissioning Manager in developing and implementing action plans to deliver agreed strategies and key priorities.
