It is a challenging, yet exciting time to work in local government finance. North Somerset Council have an excellent finance team with a proven track record of strategic financial planning, budgetary control and statutory reporting. We are looking to enhance these core areas and also expand our capital financing team to provide financial support for our capital programme, which now includes a wide range of significant investment projects such as the new railway in Portishead, transport infrastructure to bypass Banwell and the creation of new school facilities.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a fixed term Finance Officer post within the capital finance team, with the grade being dependent upon relevant qualifications and experience. Reporting to Senior Accountant (Capital), this is a varied role providing a range of financial support and advice to services across the Council on specific projects within the capital programme. Including major projects financial support, S106, CIL, VAT and grant claims to external bodies.
We are looking for someone who is part/ or fully CCAB qualified, with experience within the public sector finance environment. Capital finance experience would be an advantage, as would knowledge of VAT, S106 and CIL matters.
