Environmental Health Officer (COVID 19)
1 Year Fixed Term Contract
£34,869 - £46,260 inclusive of outer fringe allowance (career grade)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our small but dynamic Environmental Health team.
This is a role for someone that likes to problem solve, and takes pride in delivering a great service to customers. You’ll need to bring a positive attitude, be prepared to try new ways of working, celebrate success and show perseverance to achieve compliance. Organisational skills will be invaluable to manage your individual caseload, for which you will take personal responsibility.
There is a need to be flexible and sometimes be prepared to work outside of regular office hours to deliver our services.
In this role you’ll be working within a small generic Environmental Health team primarily taking the lead on Covid related interventions and proactive work. This is likely to involve assisting in the delivery of contact tracing interventions, Covid workplace outbreak investigations, Covid complaint and enquiry response.
Other work may include responding to both service requests and delivering statutory interventions based upon your experience and competency. This will involve liaising with other teams and agencies concerned with economic development, enforcement, communication messaging to support businesses, and advice to residents.
It will provide a great opportunity to further your career by leading on the project work and partnership working.
We welcome applications from all levels of experience and where you are positioned on the career progression programme (found in the application documentation) will be reflected in your salary.
You’ll need to be team player. This means being able to demonstrate the behaviours of our #OneTeam ethos to get the best outcomes for both our residential and business customers.
This is a busy team working across a broad range of Environmental Health activity but you don’t necessarily need experience of all areas, just a willingness to learn and support the wider team.
You will have a relevant qualification In Environmental Health. This is a frontline role, so good verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to explain complex legislation to a variety of audiences.
Closing date for applications is 16th December 2020.
Assessments and Interviews will be held on 22nd December and will be conducted virtually over Microsoft Teams
