Major Principal Development Officer (P01602)

Principal Major Development Officer (Development Management)

£42,532 - £45,634 per annum inclusive of outer fringe allowance
37 hours per week

You will enjoy the challenge of being part of a dynamic team, with the opportunity to work in both an urban and rural environment.  If you are interested in working in a high performance authority that at the same time values and delivers high quality development while seeking to enhance our New Town and Garden City environments, we want to hear from you.

Our new Local Plan is currently at examination and proposes to deliver major growth in the Borough during the next plan period. You can play a key role and will have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the determination of applications on strategic housing development sites through project management, preparation and delivery of master plans, liaising with developers and other internal and external stakeholders.

In addition, you will lead and coach planning officers engaged in other major applications and appeals.

You will have good communication and negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate methodical and well organised working. It is essential that you have experience in development management and able to work under pressure. Ideally, you will have some experience in staff management and project management skills.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Sarah Smith at

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Closing date is 17 January 2021.

Assessments and interviews to be confirmed.
