Building Surveyor
Property Services (Housing)
12 month fixed term contract

£31,401 - £37,819 inclusive of Outer Fringe Allowance
37 hours per week

Our council is going through an exciting time of change. We have developed a ‘One Team’ approach to working and this relies on each and every person working collaboratively to deliver shared goals. To be a positive influence on this environment, you’ll need to be able to support others and be a genuine team player.

We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join our Property Services (Housing) team to help increase our housing stock under our Affordable Housing programme.

Reporting to the Asset Manager you will carry out surveys, produce specifications and schedules of work to help ensure that housing need across the Borough is met.

Working closely with a range of teams across the council such as Development, Neighbourhoods, Legal and our partnering contractors, you will be adept at building professional working relationships to deliver projects on time to a high quality.

You will ideally be a fully qualified and experienced surveyor with strong technical and housing knowledge coupled with an understanding and appreciation of Building Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

You will need excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be comfortable in conversing with a range of stakeholders.

As one of our surveyors, you’ll join a forward-thinking, award winning team within the council that puts their customers first. We know that in order to provide the best for our residents, businesses and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where we feel safe, content and valued. From a generous annual leave entitlement, to flexible working and opportunities to buy and sell leave, our benefits package provides a great work life balance.

If you are interested in working in an ambitious authority and helping to shape our housing stock, we want to hear from you.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
